The infrastructure upgrade replaced St. Barnabas' chilling plant with 2 new 1000-ton steam absorption chillers, 3 new cooling towers, a 4,000Amp electrical upgrade, 4 high pressure steam stations and a new centralized hot water heat exchanger station.
The purpose of the upgrade was to replace aging systems and feed the entire Hospital complex with chilled and hot water and high pressure steam. All upgrades were phased to maintain the operation of the complex while replacing individual systems.
